More complementary than "this is just better". Ultimately neither is going to have as much sheer experience variety as WH2, so they can get too samey when played a lot, but just mixing up different games can help that. I feel like the Shogun 2 roster overall is richer but need more time with the new Mythos units. Troy has some seriously nice campaign features- best economic system of any TW, essentially gaining a "subfaction" by aligning with a monster, god devotion, etc.
Both have some dumb things like yari ashigaru and some excessive instances of buff stacking in Troy. Both dont have enough but have a pretty good variety of units. Both mythos troy and shogun 2 have different things that add some more tactics/flavor in battles, like more terrain impacts on units in Troy, formations and different damage system in S2, etc. You are allowed to enjoy the game, just like how people are allowed to not like it and give their valid reasons as to why.Įh, they're pretty even. IDK what everyone is pissed off about what policy since I have not been following the Troy thing, that being said the 6+ DLC that the game already has is pretty disgusting, and from the reviews almost all of that DLC is reskins. I have seen one complaint about the company itself, and that complaint is about (In that reviewers words) "Calling it historically accurate with the mythos part in the game is weird"īefore people start jumping down my throat, go to that webpage, get all of the reviews to load up then Ctrl+f for what you think everyone is bitching about which is CA's policies, you will see the majority of complaints are about the games issues. Terrain effects (mud, water, etc slowing movement of heavier units) are also pretty cool and a first for the series Since these units are fairly limited, they actually feel special and impactful on the battlefield due to their relative rarity and unique abilities. This won't apply to the Mythos or Historical version (which I have yet to play), but the "monster units" add an interesting strategic element since you have to control the corresponding "monster spawn" on the map to recruit them. This isn't for everyone and is a reason many dislike saga titles, but I feel the smaller scope let's you focus in on details that would otherwise be lost and also let you tell a somewhat more character driven story. The trade barter system is a fun change of paceĪ well defined campaign goal (take or defend Troy).
